First class starts in two hours... I woke up even two hours before now because my roommates wanted me to eat breakfast with them. Ordinarily, waking up three hours ahead of schedule would piss me off, but my alarm clock turned itself off in the middle of the night apparently, and if I miss my first day of classes they get automatically dropped with no way to get back in. So... I was one technological failure away from losing an entire semester of college. Wow.
Anyway, my first class is going to be awesome because it's all about gender roles and stuff. The description was just "Think of Hot Wheels and Barbie. Both of these things have a specific gender assigned to them, but why?" (and then some stuff about the general curriculum and whatnot, but that one thing really sums it up) This kind of stuff is just super fascinating to me. And there's a good chance I'll be the only one in there with external reproductive organs, unless there are others a lot like me. So I should probably, hopefully, make some awesome friends in there too!

Honestly I'm more excited about the class itself than anything else. Sometimes I seriously sit back and wonder why gender is what it as and why it doesn't stop at the physical differences. Like, I'll try to think of an actual, legitimate reason that they don't make men's dresses, or that women seem to be not allowed to have usable pockets. And then there are none. I'm extremely curious how people became so incredibly divided based on what their genitals look like.

I missed a class the first day once. It was my junior or senior year and I decided it was probably a good decision. It was all just going over the normal shit like any typical first day. Showed up the next day and it was like nothing happened.

Well you didn't go to Georgia Southern, then. :P Here, the only excuse for missing the first day is if you're in the hospital or dead or something. It's just to weed out the people who were too lazy to properly drop the class so that anyone on the waiting list can get in, instead of holding a spot for someone who will never show up.

I remember my first class in college. Chemistry 181 at 8 AM Thursday. My roommate had the same class, so we went together. I had my laptop on my desk browsing Facebook (chemistry is so boring), my roommate fell asleep sitting next to me. That was the moment I realized college was going to be awesome.
